Life is full of daily struggles, obstacles and to-do lists. Sickness, mental anguish or the overwhelming nature of many blessings and trying to do it all occupy our mind. Whatever and wherever we are in life, God is with us. We can come to Him with anything, no matter how enormous or tiny the issue. God wants to be with us through them all.
This month’s Bible study concludes our walk through James’ wise words regarding Christian living. We begin with Chapter 4 and how to come close to God. James discusses how we sometimes want things for all the wrong reasons:
“…Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” James 4:2b-3
He goes on to remind us how we need to be humble: “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” ~James 4:8 As we discussed at Friday’s Bible study, many of the things James encourages us to do in our Christian walk become so much easier when we humble ourselves.
James continues by addressing judging others, relying on ourselves and our plans more than God’s, having patience and endurance and the importance of prayer.
These last two chapters of James are chock full of sage counsel on how we can daily live out our faith.
