Don’t just listen-do! This encouragement from the book of James sums up our Bible study for this month and our focus for the summer. James was a great encourager of living what you believe. The book is full of practical advice and guidance on how to live out your faith in daily life. This summer, we will be looking at the book of James in depth and discussing how to put this great encouragement into action in our own lives.
One of the nuggets and great verses speaking to me recently from this study is James 1:19
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
This verse is sometimes so difficult for me to put into practice in everyday life. But its wisdom is profound. When I listen first, I am less apt to interrupt, misunderstand, jump to conclusions, stir up anger with thoughtless reactions and the list goes on. This is but one example of how the book of James helps us live our faith in our daily lives.
